*Guidelines for Using a Name Patterns
Patterns involve using wildcard characters, optional parts, or alternate parts in the domain name. The following wildcard characters are available for searching:
| Wildcard | Description |
|---|---|
| ? | Question. Specifies any single character (letter, digit or hyphen). |
| * | Asterisk. Specifies zero or more characters (letters, digits and hyphens). |
| [] | Square brackets. Specifies one of any character in a set, as in apollo[7nx] which locates apollo7, apollon and apollox. |
| {} | Curly braces. Specifies one of each pattern separated by a comma, as in host{s, ing, ed} which locates hosts, hosting and hosted. |
| ^ | Caret. Specifies one of any character not in the set, as in sl[^ia]m which locates slum but not slim or slam. |
| - | Hyphen. Specifies a range of characters in a set as in c[a-r]t which locates every name beginning with c, ending with t, and containing any letter from a to r. |
*planet = planet, eplanet, myplanet, dotplanet, monsterplanet, ...
